Behavior Issues
Are you tired of telling your dog "bad dog", "quit", "quiet"? Are you tired of locking your dog in another room in order to keep the dog away from friends or family or another dog because they are out of control? Are you worried about taking your dog outside because of what your dog might do?

I work with dogs to change or re-shape unwanted behaviors. Some of these include the following:
-
Barking
-
Whining
-
Pacing
-
Pulling
-
Jumping
-
Ramming or blasting through doors (including knees)
-
Biting or mouthing
-
Coming when called
-
Aggression ( with people or dogs)
I start with positive reinforcement and let the dog dictate what's needed. Most of the time I can change a behavior in a few minutes. It usually takes a week or so for the behavior to become the new normal behavior. For some dogs it's taken days to change a behavior and weeks to have the behavior stick. When people ask how long it takes I will usually say a week and if I see behaviors that are bigger problems I let the owners know (forms of aggression - food, toys, and other dogs). This is very seldom the case unless you have a dog with very serious aggression issues. I start by teaching the dog what's an undesired behavior and what's a desired behavior. With consistency and timing most dogs pick it up very quickly.
